Turn Chronic Unemployment into Opportunity

Life Cycle Training Institutes Automotive Program

LCTI Automotive Repair Class

Auto Mechanics Class (2013)

For the first time in this region, classroom learning and hands-on experience are providing the job entry skills necessary for men to enter the automotive repair industry. There is no other educational platform in the region where students can learn new skills and still be close enough to home to work their jobs/farms and take care of their families throughout the week. Many adults in the area have little more than a 6th grade education, and until now, have not had an opportunity to learn new job skills. With education and skill, income potential never before available to them – is now possible!

The Automotive Repair course is a weekend vocational training program for young adults. Students work on individual projects and as part of a team solving larger problems. Students learn basic skills that will prepare them for a variety of apprenticeships in the auto industry. They will also develop life skills and self-confidence, learn how to start their own businesses, get a good job – and learn how to keep it. Micro loans can be made available to students who qualify for start-up business enterprises.

The course is accredited through Guatemala’s Ministry of Labor. Educational credits are transferable to the University of Guatemala.
